meddō is a landscape design and installation firm based in Richmond, VA, dedicated to developing sustainable, customized gardens. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Field Lead to join our team. This full-time, year-round, field position involves working independently and collaboratively to ensure the highest standards in project installation and maintenance on clients properties. Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work are essential.

 

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to the following)​:

 

• Management of installation projects and maintenance work

• Oversight and coordination of field team and subcontractors

• Sourcing and delivery of materials

• Transporting field team in company vehicles

• Adept use of digital programs (Jobber, Google Workspace, Gusto)

• Identifying, installing, and caring for a variety of plants, especially native

• Landscape maintenance tasks (weeding, pruning, edging, mulching, etc.)

• Installation of hardscaping, landscape lighting, and light carpentry

• Ensuring meticulous job sites at all times

• Maintenance and servicing of company equipment and tools

• Upholding cleanliness and organization of company property

• Ongoing communication with management and clients

 

Requirements:

 

• 3+ years landscaping experience

• Extensive horticultural experience, especially with plants native to Virginia

• Education and/or certification in horticulture, botany, or a related field (preferred)

• Leadership and/or managerial experience

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

• Punctuality and efficiency

• Digital proficiency

• Ability to regularly and independently lift 50+ pounds

• Ability to drive company vehicles and tow trailers

• Ability to remain on feet for long periods

• Ability to work outdoors in seasonal extremes

 

Hours:

 

This is a full-time, hourly position entailing an average of 32-40 hours per workweek throughout the year, with seasonal variations. During busy seasons, scheduling may include an excess of 40 weekly hours, which are eligible for overtime pay.

 

Compensation:

 

Pay is commensurate with experience and starts at $22.00 per hour, payable in accordance with our biweekly payroll schedule. After six months of employment, we will evaluate your progress and discuss further opportunities for professional growth with the company.
